Raised in California and residing in the Pacific Northwest, David Simon founded Simon Design Studio in 2001. Focusing on research plus design, Simon Design Studio's clients include Watson Furniture, Offi & Company, Pottery Barn, David Ryan Design Office, and Cutler-Anderson Architects. Prior to founding Simon Design Studio, David worked as an Industrial Designer for Metro Furniture, a California based Steelcase company. Presently, David is the Director of Research and Design for Brandrud Furniture, a progressive manufacturer of furniture for Healthcare and Educational environments.

David studied Industrial Design at the California College of Arts in San Francisco.
